How the Coinbase Referral Program Works

Coinbase, founded in 2012 and listed on Nasdaq since 2021, is the largest US-based exchange and one of the easiest to start with. Its referral reward is a fixed amount of crypto that depends on your country.

Coinbase's simple referral works through a personal link (coinbase.com/join/…). You sign up through the link, verify your identity, and make a qualifying purchase within 90 days; the amount is shown in the app and varies by country.

Examples reported by users in 2026 include $20 in bitcoin after a $15 trade in the US (September 2026) and up to €30 in bitcoin in Germany. These are user reports, not official figures. Separately, Coinbase Advanced has a referral that pays the inviter 30% of the invitee's fees.

How to Apply a Coinbase Referral Code

Copy a code from the list above (ours is first) or open the invite link next to it.
Go to the official Coinbase sign-up page (coinbase.com). Type the address yourself or use the link here, and check the domain before entering any data.
Enter your email or phone number. Open the "Referral / invitation code (optional)" field and paste the code. If a different code is already filled in, replace it before you continue.
Finish registration and complete identity verification (KYC). Most rewards are only credited to verified accounts.
Complete the qualifying actions described below within the deadline, then check the rewards or voucher centre in your account.

Who Can Use It: Eligibility and Countries

Coinbase is not available in many African and Asian countries and excludes sanctioned countries; in the US some products are limited by state. The referral reward is only paid where the programme runs in your country. Coinbase's referral terms say a referral code or link must not be sent to residents of the UK or Turkey, and invitees there may not get a bonus.

Local rules: Availability depends on where you live, not on the code. In the US and UK many global exchanges either run a separate local entity or do not accept new clients, and the UK FCA requires crypto promotions to come from authorised or registered firms. Always check the exchange's list of restricted countries before you deposit.
